Description
"After being purchased by Rolls-Royce in 1931, Bentley production was moved from London to Derby and later to Crewe. Following on from the hugely successful series of T-series models, the next generation of cars also proved extremely capable. The Bentley Eight offered slight handling improvements and was so popular that sales expanded from the original UK market to Europe and the United States. Fuel injection and anti-lock brakes were added in 1986 with leather upholstery and power memory seats becoming standard in 1987.
This lovely well kept and private RREC member’s car was purchased in 2018 after his stunning 3 ½ Litre was sent away to have its engine fully rebuilt. Having owned several post war Bentleys, our vendor sourced this very good example which, as detailed in the history file, had enjoyed a good level of maintenance from its previous owner. Presented in metallic green with lovely magnolia hide the car starts and runs as well as it should but our vendor was still aware that these cars require a certain amount of upkeep and servicing so immediately commissioned West Hoathly garage in Sussex to have the car fully worked through to ensure trouble free luxury motoring. The works included but are not limited to a reconditioned steering rack, new spring seats and near side strut assembly, discs and pads and a bleed of the braking system before reassembly. The car also benefits from any operational work advised on the MoT and has three new tyres, all in all over £8,000 and culminating in a full service and MoT September 2019. In very good order throughout and in one of the very best colour combinations this represents a very attractive Bentley Eight but now that the 3 ½ is back and with garage space limited it is time for the Eight to have a new home. A new MOT certificate is provided.
